Eric Steinman continues to set new trends of dramatic and technical excellence through his company, Rhetoric, Inc., as well as partnering with other top production companies worldwide. Whether it’s a tender, heartfelt story, an arch, offbeat comedy spot, a dialogue-driven, family moment or a smart visual effects concept, Eric’s care in casting and passion for timing, performance, detail and design can be seen throughout his work.
He began his career on the agency side, first in San Francisco and then New York, creating award-winning campaigns for AT&T, HBO, PepsiCo and Gillette, transitioning into directing when the creative head of Chiat-Day/NY encouraged him to pursue it as a career. As a director, clients have included Merck, LG, Sony, Allstate, Bayer, Dannon, Mazda, Visa, Nestle, McDonalds, Toyota, Citibank as well as his award-winning PSA’s for The Alzheimers Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Partnership for Drug Free Kids.
Always exploring new technical possibilities, his London International Awards and Cannes-recognized spots for Astro-Mobile were the first spots ever shot with Arriflex D-series cameras, now the industry standard Alexa. In addition to the London Awards and Cannes, other award recognition includes Andy, Clio, Art Director’s Club, Addy and AICP/MoMA among others.
Rhetoric, Inc. partners for production with Free Media, managed by industry leader and award-winning Executive Producer Joan Babchak. In addition to producing major campaigns for Andrew Douglas, Bob Giraldi, Peter Corbett, Jim Sonzero, Paula Walker and many others, Joan literally invented the production resource NYPG, the continued industry leader. Her client list includes L’Oreal, Chrysler, Coca-Cola, ESPN, Mcdonalds, NBC, Miller Lite, P&G, Unilever and many more.
